Rousing for Chippenham, whereas it was a crazey ten minutes for City!

Chippenham Town manager Mark Collier insisted encouraging, rather than inspirational, words helped Chippenham Town turn an off-colour first half into a rousing Calor League Southern Premier Division victory over Truro City on Tuesday night.

"We didn't play particularly well in the first half, we didn't keep the ball well which was disappointing considering that's what we have done well in the previous two matches,'' Collier told the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald.

"We said we need to take a bit more care with the ball, trust each other a bit more and have a bit more belief. There was no need to panic about anything.

"I thought we may have seen the best of Truro in the first half because they played particularly well. We defended in numbers, got our blocks in and (Matt) Bulman has made a couple of good saves and we stayed in the game.''

"In the past we could have been out of the game and gone after a first half like that, but we had that resolve and then in the second half we were a different side,'' added the manager.

"We played with a bit more purposes, had our desire to get our passes and crosses in and we got our rewards for it.'

Meanwhile, City manager Steve Massey told the TCFC Match Programme : β€œit was a game we could and should have taken all 3 points from and it was a missed opportunity to continue our great run with another win. After completely dominating the first half, but not taking any of at least three great chances we then had a crazy 15 minute spell after half time which cost us the game. Even then, for the last 25 minutes, we bossed the game with some lovely football. We now go again Saturday and start another longer unbeaten run going.”

The West Briton had got a similar message earlier when they spoke to β€œa disappointed Massey : They worked hard and played well but it was their own fault for not taking their chances and not defending well enough. A crazy 10 minutes cost us.”

Truro City : Grant Fisher, Dan Evans (Joe Broad 63), Shane White, Paul Kendall (captain), Aaron Pugh, Warren Daw, Cody Cooke, Jamie Lowry, Liam Eddy (Les Afful 63), Ben Watson, Olly Brokenshire (Neil Slateford 74)

Substitutes not used : Jordan Copp, Jared Sims
