2. Child Protection 2


Our Aims and Procedures
1. The club endorses and complies with the RFU Child Protection policy and guidelines, including the best practice guidelines for “RFU Seal of Approval” clubs.
2. It is the responsibility of the committee of the mini and junior section of Tupton Rugby Union Football Club to establish a club child protection policy and to set up procedures within the club, as required by the Rugby Football Union.
3. All coaches and all other volunteers (i.e. administration, kitchen staff etc) abide by all of the clubs policies.
4. All coaches will be qualified to RFU Level 1 before they are allowed to be the head coach of an age group; this level of qualification includes child protection training. Under 7/Under 8 group lead coaches will have an RFU Tag Rugby qualification as a minimum.
5. All coaching staff and volunteers coming into contact with young children will complete a club Volunteers Form that requires to be endorsed by a committee member.
6. All coaching staff and volunteers coming into contact with young children are screened through a national CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checking process as prescribed by the RFU.
7. The club will encourage and help coaches stay up-to-date with rugby, coaching and child protection issues.
8. All coaches will be given a copy of the club’s code of conduct for coaches and be expected to keep to it at all times.
9. We will keep written records of attendance, parental consents and accidents.
10. As a club, we will promote ‘fair play’ and always play within the spirit of the laws and the letter of the continuum.
11. We will provide coaches and parents/guardians with a written procedure for dealing with accusations or suspicions of child abuse.
12. An officer has been appointed to deal with any concerns about physical, sexual or emotional abuse within the club
13. The club will maintain its child protection policy in accordance with current advice / requirements from the RFU.
14. All information will be treated in a sensitive manner and will be kept in the strictest confidence and will be dealt with immediately.
15. All documentation relating to any child protection issue will be kept in a secure cabinet and held by our committee secretary, and again will be completely confidential.
