Ticehurst started off their Junior cup campaign with a 6-1 win over Yalding.

As usual, with several players away/injured etc, Ticehurst still went with a squad of 14 for the fixture, with Rob Guile making his first start this season and Joe Drury returning from Suspension.

Ticehurst started off the brightest and were dangerous from the off, creating problems for the Yalding defence. Despite the early pressure, Yalding came the closest to opening the scoring when a free kick forced an excellent save from Sam Beaney, who tipped the strike onto the bar.

Besides the early chance for the hosts, it was all Ticehurst and the back four Guile, Harvey, Drury and Ede were dealing with things very comfortably, With Guile and Ede contributing to the attacks.

Ticehurst took the lead just shy of ten minutes played following a corner that was swung in. The ball was met at the back by Dave Harvey and he re-directed the ball back across to Jason Marsh who claimed his first goal of the season. 0-1 (9m)

Following that, the Blues had a plethora chances for the remainder of the half but couldn’t get that decisive finish to make them count. The Midfield of Nicol, Sanders and Evans were having a decent game and were denying Yalding of any substantial posession. Then shortly before the half time whistle, Leon Fisher’s corner was swung in and it managed to beat everybody, including the keeper. 0-2 (40m)

The second half was another hot start for Ticehurst and what followed was three goals in 11 minutes. First Ben Evans played a great ball to Leon Fisher and he made no mistake from close range to grab his second of the game. 0-3 (48m)

Not to be outdone, Jason Marsh also grabbed his brace, when Terry Ede delivered a fantastic cross and Marsh put away a trademark header. 0-4 (53m)

Also keen to get involved was Darren Nicol, who had been marshalling the midfield alongside Mat Sanders and Evans extremely well. He grabbed his 3rd goal in as many games when Leon Fisher turned provider and Nicol poked home. 0-5 (56m)

A change saw Raul Rusu on for Ben Evans as followed shortly after by Jordan Vinall making way for Oli Marsh. Ticehurst aimed to keep the tempo going which had served them well throughout the game.

Yalding did manage to grab a consolation. Their corner was not cleared at the first attempt and Josh Hillman put his effort away. 1-5 (72m)

A precautionary change saw Darren Nicol grab a breather, with Lem Kudjoe coming on up top, with Jason Marsh slotted in to Nicol’s midfield position, to see the game out.

Chances were still presenting themselves for Ticehurst, most notably with Mat Sanders who struck a great effort, forcing a decent save from the Yalding keeper.

The keeper couldn’t stop them all though and there was time near the end for Leon Fisher to claim a well-earned Hat trick when he latched onto Raul Rusu’s ball to complete the rout. 1-6 (86m)
