Ams through to Waddell Cup Semi Final

Tweedmouth reached the semi-final of the Waddell Cup despite a second half comeback from the visitors. It was Langholm who started the game stronger and only two fine one on one saves by Sobbart kept the scores level early on. These saves were made all the more important after Robertson opened the scoring from the edge of the box after being teed up by Simpson. The lead was doubled when Heugh, who was non-stop energy all day, slid in from six yards to finish off a mazy run.

As has been the case of late the Amateurs made a slow start to the second half and allowed the visitors back into the game. The first goal coming from an over the shoulder hooked shot from the corner of the box. The comeback was complete only moments later as Langholm made the most of their spell of pressure.

The scores remained level for less than two minutes, Robertson scoring his second of the game with a glancing header at the front post from an Antcliff corner. The result was settled when Simpson, a constant thorn in the side of the Legion back four, was set up by Heugh. Tweedmouth will now face Chirnside in the semi-final.

Next week Tweedmouth travel to Stow for a Division A fixture.
