No contest as Chirnside ease through to Waddell Cup Final

Tweedmouth team exited the Waddell Cup at the semi final stage on Saturday. Shorn of much of their squad as a result of injury and work commitments, Tweedmouth knew they had their work cut out against the league champions elect.
The Amateurs needed to make a good start and enjoyed a decent share of possession until the quarter hour mark, when Turner broke up a move on the half way line, striding forward to set up Jess with an open goal. Blaikie then doubled the lead with a delicate chip from the edge of the box. The game was effectively over when the home side scored their third on the half hour and went on to add a fourth right on the stroke of half time.
The home team used the second half to give squad players a run out. Tweedmouth came into the game a little more, with the wind at their back, but the home team continued to look dangerous with each attack. The visitors ended the game with ten men as Tait left the game with a knee injury and no substitutes available. Chirnside added three further goals in the second half to round off a comprehensive win to book their place in the final.
The positives for the visitors were the performances of 15 year olds Danny Fletcher and Tommy Malcolm, both of whom gave displays well beyond their years.

Tweedmouth would like to thank sponsors Woody’s Taxis and Maguires Bar and Grill for meeting travelling costs.

Tweedmouth face Gordon at The Five Arches on Tuesday 18th April and travel to Greenlaw on Saturday 22nd April to round off their season.
