The Colts faced up to Cobham, who had gone unbeaten in their last two group games, racking up 100 points.
Twickenham had also gone unbeaten this season in the league and cup with a perfect 7 from 7 record.
On a pitch that didn't support sublime running rugby, both teams set about trying to dominate the middle ground.
It was Cobham who deservedly took the honours, scoring the first try and duly converting to take a 7 point lead.
Twickenham fought back to level before half time with Mason going over the try line and Oli White with the conversion.
Into the 2nd half Twickenham where reduced to 14 men, but despite playing with a man advantage Cobham were unable to breach the Twickenham defence.
After not being able to make use of a free play up stepped Oli White to slot the penalty to take Twickenham into the lead for the first time; 10-7.
The remaining 15 minutes continued to be a hard fought arm wrestle, amongst two evenly fought teams.
With Sunday lunch calling, and the hair of the dog needed for a number of the spectators, the referee blew his whistle for the final time , with Twickenham Colts emerging the winners 10-7.
Both teams have deservedly secured a home quarter final fixture, and it would be no surprise to see both teams meeting again before the cup is out.
A truly hard fought fixture, this time going the way of Twickenham Colts.
Hopefully we will meet again to give two evenly matched teams, the opportunity to face up again.
Thank you to the ref, the players, the hard working physio, and the parents for contributing to a fixture that reflects why community rugby remains the heartbeat of the game.?
