The festival format for the age group factored in the previous league matches played earlier in the season. However, due to all the bad weather, not all other teams managed to play as many league games as our own U-12s, so, somehow, the reformatted league structure meant that Twickenham had to play two matches in the Bowl competition. The first match against Rosslyn Park was an exceedingly close, nip and tuck encounter. There was plenty of hard hitting tackling, great support work between the backs and the forwards and some fine, quick thinking moves orchestrated from our half-backs. However, in the closing minutes of the game, the scores were level and two teams could not be separated, until, at the very end of normal time, Twickenham punched through RP's defensive line to score and secure a hard earned win. In the final match, against local rivals Teddington, our battle-hardened team were now thoroughly warmed up and they stormed to a stonking 39-0 victory and secure the Middlesex Bowl.
