Ts momentum comes to a grinding holt against a well drilled Farnham side

Ts made the journey down the M3 to 2nd in the league Farnham (F), 2 points between the 2 sides and Ts previously beating them at home this was shaping to be a big fixture especially off the current moment Ts had shown.

The Side, Forwards; Penson, Ricky & Fyles in the front row, Skipper Banks & Knight at locks finished off by Chris, Luke & Mo as back row.
Backs, Goddard back to 9 with Mike, JH & Wilde in the centres with Rose, Arthur & Fozzy completing the starting line-up.
Replacements; Joey, Jasper & Scholesy

Ts got the game underway, with the wind going straight down the field you’d have thought it would have dictated more of the style of play both teams adopted, but it seemed Farnham came out the blocks much sooner than Ts. The intensity & pace the game F played in the initial 20 minutes meant Ts couldn’t get a hold on the game, often finding themselves defending and clearing their lines Ts didn’t have any possession or territory. That being said credit to F who took the game to Ts on home soil and took the points on offer, within 20 minutes the game was up to 24-0 before Ts even began to play.

Finally, a few decisions came Ts way and they were able to pin F back into the corners but it would be Ts own demise that meant they were unable to convert their opportunities, turning the ball over Farnham were able to clear well, with an offloading game meant Ts were scrambling across the field, it was unlike the Ts of late. Ts were able to hang onto that scoreline until the break where they seemed to exert themselves on F for the last 10 minutes of the half to no avail.

Ts once again seemed to take the control in the initial period of the 2nd half, Joey & Jasper now on the field and the game was sped up, F making mistakes themselves with a high number of penalties, a bit too many from a Ts point of view but not the refs. But it was a similar story, Ts were their own enemies, make their way down the field, pressure on the F but lose ball and not be able to convert opportunites.

F then come back into Ts red zone from their own mistakes even with the extra man, but an over thrown lineout and opportunistic back row meant F extended their lead. Ts continued to mount pressure when they had their opportunities, a rolling maul allowed Ricky to get on the board but it would only be for a consolation score. Scholesy had made his way onto the field and the energy was definitely lifted, but F who had a hold on this game continued to chip away at Ts defence getting another couple of scores which would close the game out at 39-5.

Ts seemed a different side to how they had been playing, parts of the game saw what Ts are capable of but credit to F who took their opportunities on the day. Ts are back at Parkfields this weekend, taking on Old Emanuel in what will undoubtedly be an interesting fixture considering the result earlier in the season.

MOTM; Banks was awarded it from the oppo

DOTD; Fozzy decided to take a quick lineout on our own 5m line for Rose to get snapped up and giving a score away.
