Tynedale welcome our old Lancastrian friends Preston Grasshoppers who make the trip up the M6 to provide Tynedale’s 4th home opposition of the season. The Tynedale lads will be looking to build on last weeks excellent demolition of Scunthorpe but the ‘Hoppers are sure, as usual, to be very physical, tough opponents.
Last season the ‘Hoppers finished two places and 6 points behind Tynedale in the league with both the results between the two clubs going with the home side. Tynedale won a topsy-turvy home match by 29-25 with a last minute converted try edging it Tynedale’s way whilst Preston won the return fixture with a relatively convincing 21-5 scoreline.
Like Tynedale, Preston have had a ‘mixed’ start to the new season with the same result record as Tynedale (W2, D1, L3) but have recorded 3 fewer bonus points than Tynedale. (with 7 bonus points Tyndale currently have 2 more bonus points than anyone else in league – we’d rather have 2 more wins!)
The ‘Hoppers results so far have been:-
‘Hoppers 20 Sedgley Park 34
Fylde 24 ‘Hoppers 24
‘Hoppers 48 Scunthorpe 24
‘Hoppers 10 Sheffield Tigers 9
Wharfedale 20 ‘Hoppers 19
‘Hoppers 22 Huddersfield 27
‘Hoppers will certainly be looking to put things right after a narrow defeat at Wharfedale and losing out last week to the last play of the match so we can expect another close, highly entertaining match – come on down and support the lads!
Weather Forecast
