Last Wednesday saw the return of Dingle Day; headlined by the 2s fixture against Plymouth 1s. Sitting comfortably at second in the league and putting Spurs-like pressure on the visiting leaders, a win for the bois would surely have boosted their hopes of achieving back-to-back promotions.
However, whilst Plymouth did have some fairly average players slotted into their team, the skill of their decent minority was enough to ensure they could score 3 fairly average goals (including a p-flick) without a Bristol response.
Whilst a second-half reply did eventually come via a well executed Scorefield bin, all hopes of a Bournemouth-esque comeback were soon destroyed when a fourth Plymouth goal followed shortly after from a shorty.
F.inishing 4-1 to Plymouth, Dingle Day was not one to remember for the 2s. However, it doesn’t take anything away from what has been a remarkable BUCS season - safe from relegation with dos games remaining against Bath and Swansea.
