The UCSB Men’s Rugby team was founded in 1967 and is in the process of building one of the best club sports programs in the USA. We compete at the highest level of college rugby which is a pathway to the USA Olympic team. The student athlete that signs on with us soon realizes we train like a varsity sport. Players must follow a grueling practice schedule which includes skill work, physical contact and a supervised strength and conditioning program. Above all else, the players learn how to balance these training sessions with academic standards set by the university. Rugby teaches how to be successful in a competitive environment, the value of team work, commitment and most importantly, how to build friendships that will last a life time.We are run by hardworking student athletes who take part in every facet of the organization. As members of this longstanding club we are looking to build the legacy which has been left to us. Although players pay annual dues which go to the everyday expense of running the program, at the moment dues are not enough to cover our annual budget. In order to continue, it is necessary to ask the rugby family for financial help available.
