Uddingston 61 -5 Paisley

Match day started at noon at Castle Policies with a former players lunch, and the Class of '22 gave their predecessors plenty to cheer about come 3pm with an 11 try demolition of Paisley. The final score of 61-5 rounds off an unbeaten run of 5 matches for the Villagers and sees them enter the international break safely positioned at 5th in the table.

The Villagers hit the ground running, opening up a 19 point advantage in the opening 15 minutes. Tries from Brown, A Watson, and R Anderson, coupled with 2 successful conversions settled the nerves, and almost put the game beyond the visitors.

Paisley had other ideas and hit back with an unconverted tries on the half hour mark, but that was the only time they troubled the scoreboard all afternoon. The final 10 minutes of the first half saw West and McPherson both cross for tries 4 and 5, and secured the try bonus point before the half time jaffas had been handed round.

The second half started at a slightly slower pace, taking to the 50th minute before the Villagers added to their tally. McPherson secured his brace before McKeown followed up with his first of the afternoon. With the score at 39-5 the result was now beyond doubt, but the home boys had an audience to entertain.

As the match entered the final quarter R Anderson crossed for his second try of the afternoon, adding the conversion to open up a 40 point margin. The final 10 minutes saw a flurry of tries with A Watson scoring his second of the day before his brother M Watson got his name on the scoreboard. The last moment of glory went to Paul who closed the game out and took the Villagers tally beyond 60.

While the boys can be rightly pleased with a job well done, and a productive 5 weeks which produced a maximum haul of 25 points, they now head into the international break knowing their next run of fixtures will be the real test. Competitive action resumes on 12 November when they face the long trip to Oban. This is followed by an away match at Strathaven before Wigtownshire and Dalziel come calling to Castle Policies before the festive break. With all four of these sides currently occupying the leagues places above Uddingston it's all to play for in terms of who will be fighting it out come the final fixtures
