They beat West by 19 runs to retain status

Uddingston beat West of Scotland by 19 runs in the 16th round of matches at Hamilton Crescent to retain their spot in the WDCU Premiership.

Winning the toss, the Villagers chose to bat first, but soon found themselves 15/3 as Aamir Gul, Muhammad Awais and Harmanjit Singh all fell cheaply. It was then up to Bryan Clarke and Jimmy Sholto-Douglas to rescue the situation. Clarke was next to go, but not before he had scored 28. He was followed by both Ross Lyons and Fergus Clarke who both contributed 20. However, it was Sholto-Douglas who continued to dominate the batting, and he eventually reached his century before becoming one of Traver Garwe's four victims. At the end, Uddingston had reached 202 all out in 48.2 overs. The best bowling was Garwe's 4/36, and there was two wickets - and one run out - for Gavin Smith.

In reply, the West innings started badly as Ian Young fell to Sholto-Douglas without scoring, and it was up to Max Finzel and Nicholas Boller to give West a solid start. They would both fall to Harmanjit Singh's bowling, but not before contributing the two biggest scores of the innings - 65 and 34 respectively. Both James Fennah and Lucas Farndale would also contribute in the innings with the bat, but it was the Uddingston bowlers who had the upper hand. Ross Lyons took 3/43 in his ten overs and there were two wickets for Sholto-Douglas, as well as one each for Gul and Awais. Uddingston won by 19 runs securing their place in the WDCU Premiership next year.
