Uddingston lost by 101 runs to Prestwick in the fourth round of the WDCU Premiership on Saturday.
The Henry Thow Oval team won the toss and batted on a difficult wicket. Uddingston had a strong start as Neill Alexander and Abdul Sabri opened the bowling, followed later by Thomas Wilmott. All three would claim wickets as Prestwick were reduced to 77-6 at the mid-point of their innings. Gurupreet Singh (45) then came and added a 50 partnership with Euan McBeth before being dismissed by Amir Gul. Ross Lyons and Zaighun Ahmad also contributed two wickets. A final run out ended the Prestwick innings at 155.
The Uddingston innings started brightly with Muhammad Awais and Craig Smith both reaching double figures, and after 11 overs Uddingston were 38/1. However, when Awais was adjudged leg before wicket for 20 off Majid Haq's bowling - the first of his four wickets -, this sparked a massive collapse, the next eight wickets falling for just ten runs. Just six runs later, the final blow was struck by Azeem Akbar and Uddingston had lost by 101 runs.
