Tunnocks Uddingston beat West of Scotland by two wickets in dramatic fashion in their ninth round fixture of the WDCU Premiership.

Winning the toss, the Hamilton Crescent team decided to bat first, and the early part of their innings was dominated by wicketkeeper Andy Hislop. In a patient knock, Hislop would reach 50 before being dismissed by Aamir Gul. At this point West were 99/3 and this became 99/4 when Niall Alexander had John Oliver caught at slip. Captain James Fennah also reached his half-century, scoring 55 runs before being stumped by Bryan Clarke off Muhammad Awais's bowling. Taken together West reached 196/7 in 50 overs. For Uddingston, there were two wickets for Gul, Alexander and Ross Lyons.

In reply, Muhammad Awais raised to his customary fast start and along with Zaighum Ahmad and Harmanjit Singh, had steered Uddingston to 124-1 after 20 overs. However, the next seven wickets fell for just 41 runs and in just ten overs - as the middle order collapsed thanks to tight bowling from Callum Dutia (four wickets) and Tom Spensley (two). This included Awais who contributed 79. Uddingston were 166-8 as Thomas Wilmott joined Bryan Clarke with seventeen overs to go. However, Clarke and Wilmott started to build a partnership and as the overs ticked on, both sides became nervous. No more wickets fell, and eventually Bryan Clarke's final four clinched victory with two overs to spare. Uddingston had won by two wickets.
