Tunnocks Uddingston beat Dumfries by 50 runs in the 17th round of the WDCU Premiership, the final round of home matches for the Villagers.
Winning the toss, Uddingston decided to bat first. After losing Zaighum Ahmad early on, Muhammad Awais and Aamir Gul steered the villagers to 68-1 before Awais was bowled by Alan Davidson for 33. Gul continued a patient innings and was eventually out for 45, caught by Tom McBride off Chris McCutcheon's bowling. Niall Alexander made a solid 25 with Esa Sharif and Abdul Sabri both providing support, but steady bowling kept the Villagers to 168-9. Zeeshan Azhar then hit consecutive sixes in the last over to leave Dumfries 189 to win.
The Dumfries reply began in terrible fashion for the visitors as they were reduced to 28-5 early on - wickets from Alexander, Sabri, Azhar and Thomas Wilmott all contributing. Tom McGrath then acted as the mainstay of the batting scoring 44 runs as the team recovered to 135-7. Ross Lyons then chipped in with two key wickets to leave the away side at 138 all out - Uddingston winning by 50 runs.
