Uddingston demolish West to retain fourth place

Uddingston beat West of Scotland by 113 runs in the final round of the WDCU Premiership.

The match was reduced to 40 overs after heavy overnight rain meant a delayed start. Winning the toss, Uddingston decided to bat first. Zaighum Ahmad was bowled by Gavin Smith on the second ball of the match, and Harmanjit Singh soon followed to leave the Villagers 4/2. When Muhammad Awais scored his 10th run, loud cheers were heard as it meant that he would finish the season as top run scorer in the WDCU Premiership competition. He would eventually reach 20 before being dismissed. Aamir Gul continued to support the innings as other wickets tumbled, and he would eventually reach 50 off 75 balls. When he was out, Uddingston were 93/6. Niall Alexander then took over the anchor role and reached 43 off 57 balls, and other support meant that Uddingston would finish 166 all out. Gavin Smith and Callum Dhotta both took three wickets.

In reply, the innings of West of Scotland was effectively over as opening bowlers Alexander and Abdul Sabri had completed their eight overs. Spells of 3/27 and 6/22 respectively left West 53/9. Harmanjit Singh finished the job as Bryan Clarke stumped Dhotta to leave Uddingston with a 113 run win.
