Uddingston lost to Stirling County in the Rowan Cup first round on Thursday night.
The Villagers won the toss and put the home team into bat. The hosts reached 34 in the first five overs, thanks to two sixes from Matthew Booker. However Abdul Sabri (2), Zaighun Ahmad and struck to reduce the team to 49-3. Ross Lyons came on to bowl, and took three wickets, including Stirling County captain Matthew Tweedie who scored 29; by this point Stirling were 79-6 in the 16th over. Rohail Jahanzeb came on to bowl at the end of the innings and he cleaned up the tail taking 4-7. Stirling finished 100 all out.
In reply, Muhammad Awais (12) and Abdul Sabri (13) both contributed in the first five overs of the Villagers' innings, and both fell to the bowling of Thomas Jones. The score was 27-3, and worse was to follow as the next six wickets fell for just 14 runs. Booker took four wickets and Abdul Shakoor three. At 41-9, Niall Macleod and Cameron Stevenson added 20 before Macleod was bowled by Brandon McMullen. Macleod top scored with 23, but Uddingston had lost by 39 runs.
