Gutsy performance sees Ladies through to next round of the plate

The ladies visited mansfield hoisery mills to battle it out a place in the next round of the plate. The ladies had some key players missing for the second week in a row due to injuries and holidays, however manager Nigel Beer was convinced his side would be able to clinch the victory. He was able to field a strong team with Charlotte worth and siobhan mcCormick coming back into the starting line up which proved pivital. It was a very tough battle and a very hard pitch to play on. Some good football was played down the wings, and in the centre of midfield which enabled the girls to go into half time 2-0 up. Two good finished from Paige Rogers have the ladies a nice cushion with mansfield kicking down hill in the second half. Some brilliant defending from Charlotte worth and Lizzi Townley kept the ladies in the game, as mansfield had a very handy striker upfront. Hayley saggers played a vital role in the holding midfield role to stop most of the service going forward. Mansfield managed to get a very scrappy goal back but the ladies stayed strong and dug in deep. Kirby moss Paige Rogers and Beth Hunt never stopped running and pressuring their back four throughout the whole game. This was again key to the service being stopped to their lethal striker. Laura Hartshorne hit the bar late on with a free kick which and Kirby Moss had some very close chances that she saw go agonisingly wide. Elouise Freitas came on for Injured Laura Hartshorne and played and important part in Midfield for the latter stages of the game. Simone Brown made some very important saves throughout the game, and her constant talking proved to be key as well. Rache Beers work rate was second to none as she kept their left winger very quiet stopping a lot of the service down that side of the pitch. A brilliant gutsy win for the ladies.

Lets keep it going into the next game, well done Ladies!!!
