The Hertfordshire side claimed the only try of an evenly-matched first half. But the Titans struck back early in the second period through Charles Campbell-Peek. Joshua Humphreys gave Upminster the lead before Bradley Brooker crossed the tryline to seal a 3-1 Titans victory and secure the silverware for the hosts.
Upminster’s opening match set the tone for the day. Facing old foes Southend, the Titans claimed a 4-3 win with tries from Campbell-Peek and a Callum Reardon hat trick.
A close encounter with Old Dartfordians ended five-apiece, with a brace of tries from Reardon, and scores from Campbell-Peek, Joshua Outen and Travis Boxall-Kee.
It was back to winning ways against Romford & Gidea Park with the local derby finishing 6 – 2 to Upminster and tries from Max Pawsey, Louis Binder, Boxall-Kee and another triple from Reardon.
Upminster finished as group winners with a comfortable 7-3 win over Chingford. Tries were scored by Pawsey, Brooker, Campbell-Peek and a brace each for Reardon and Binder.
The Titans’ Cup Final opponents Bishops Stortford had cruised to the top of their group, scoring 16 tries and conceding only one. That run came to an end against a disciplined and determined Upminster.
Callum Reardon, voted player of the festival by his teammates, collected the trophy for the home side.
