Vectis RFC celebrated another successful week of youth rugby

U12s Show Character in Dramatic Comeback

The Vectis U12s hosted New Milton RFC at the IW RFC home ground, Wootton Recreation Ground, using the friendly fixture to integrate new players and test new positional combinations.

New Milton started with strong organisation, running in six tries before the break. However, the Vectis squad displayed remarkable mental toughness, regrouping at halftime to deliver a transformed second-half performance. Increased pressure at the breakdown, powerful carries, and vastly improved support play saw Vectis score five well-worked tries, restricting the visitors to just one in response. The massive improvement in teamwork and confidence was palpable, proving the squad’s character.

Man of the Match was awarded to Juke, who came off the bench and immediately lifted the team's momentum with his unrelenting energy, decisive tackling, and direct running. This positive performance has set a strong foundation for the weeks ahead.

Vectis U15s hard fought draw.

The U15’s travelled away to Petersfield RFC for a highly competitive fixture that ended in a thrilling 24-24 draw in what was a thrilling high score game.

Vectis U16s were disappointed to see their away fixture at Trojans RFC called off due to a waterlogged pitch but are raring for their next game.

Vectis U10s on the road.

Vectis U10’s were up early for their ferry to Havant RFC for a joint training session and round robin. The squad demonstrated some great play and learned valuable lessons, with the U10s squad continuing to grow and get stronger every week. They look forward to a tournament next week at the Pulborough Rugby Festival and their training this Wednesday night where they will sharpen their drills.

Hampshire Call-Up.

Vectis Colts player Billy has been officially announced as part of the Hampshire U18s squad. The entire club extends its full support and pride to Billy as he takes this massive step in his rugby journey.

Vectis U10’s Mums and the Wight Wolves.

Vectis is actively supporting the growth of girls' rugby and currently boasts a thriving U12s girls’ squad. The club gives a special shout-out to the Vectis U10s Mums, who joined forces to train with the Wight Wolves Women's Rugby team, culminating in an enjoyable game of touch rugby. The Mums put in a fantastic shift, gaining a new respect for the sport, and everyone involved had a great time. Well done Mums the squad were proud of you!
