Mark Aaron

R.I.P.

It is with the heaviest of hearts and deepest regrets that I have to inform you of the death of one of our former players, Mark Aaron. Mark was a very good scrum half in the 80's, in thge same team as such as Simon Cross, Andy Hall, Russ Waters etc. Very skilful, Mark also did not suffer fools gladly, many being on the wrong end of a quick wit and sharp tongue - and not only the opposition !! Referees, too, were often offered his opinion on their ability. In fact, Mark's only red card was for telling a ref how to do his job - so, a typical scrum half then !!!

Mark was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer some years ago, was treated but the cancer spread everywhere. In 2014 he was told he had months left, but fought on with typical bravery and humour. He leaves a wife, Jo, and 13 year old Katie, to whom , I am sure, we all send our best wishes and love and prayers. I am just so sad that a guy as young as Mark, with so much more to offer, can be taken from his family, and from us.

Mark,
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.

Farewell, old friend.

Mark's funeral will take place at Chevening Church on Monday 22 May at 11.30 p.m., afterwards at Chevening House, for those who wish to pay their last respects.
