Without disrespect to the Vigo team, this was virtually Vigo's 3rd team, and were simply no match for a powerful Ashford side who were virtually unbeaten last season. With so many injuries and unavailability, Vigo were forced to postpone their scheduled third team game and play with what amounted to their regualr 3rd team being forced to take on Ashford. Unable to postpone the 2nd XV game instead, due to the diktats of the RFU , or Kent RFU or whatever, this could have been possibly dangerous to the many youngsters Vigo were forced to field. However, these youngsters will have been able to learn much from what was a chastening experience, and willhopefully stand them in good stead for their future.'Older' hands like Darren Cox, Ollie McSweeney-Atkins and Liam Byrne-Stevens and the hugely impressive Nick Haigh strove mightily to little avail, but the heart displayed by the team could not be faulted. A consolation try for teenager Lewis Pitchell was a reward for the courage of the youngster.
