Vinelife Football Club was founded in 2008 by Vinelife Church Manchester members Daniel Longfellow and Ralph Pedley. The initial purpose of this was the creation of a casual football team in order to play matches against other teams from churches in the local area.

A friendly game was organised against Hope Family Church, Salford which was played on Saturday 21st June 2008 at Hough End Playing Fields in Manchester.

A very inexperienced Vinelife FC team were duly beaten 9-0 (or quite possibly 10 or 11) by an on form Hope side but nonetheless Vinelife Football Club was born.
