Nice sunny weather and nearly a full bench lead to Vorarlberg traveling with good omens to Munich for the first competitive game in 2024. The boys started well with Hans scoring the 1st try followed up by Thibaut charging down an exit kick and scoring the 2nd try like a tall French lock. Afterwards the game became a bit messy with ill discipline on both sides leading to many set pieces and less fluent gameplay. (There is sufficient video evidence on this) Steffi‘s try powering through StuSta‘s defence including Antonio‘s conversion from a wide range put Vorarlberg into a 17:3 lead at halftime.
VRUFC started poorly in the 2nd half conceding several penalties and letting StuSta through for their only try after 5 minutes. Thibaut and Serkan each scoring trys resulted in a final score of 27:10 for the Ländle Boys knowing that there is room for improvement for the remaining part of the season. e.g. lineouts and general discipline. Shoutout to Tomás, Moritz and Felix who had their first starts for VRUFC all having great impact on the game. Thanks to StuSta for the hospitality and their birthday boy Matteo inviting us to beers after the game.
StuSta have uploaded a video of the game which you can find here.
