Camels started the game disastrously. A short kick-off gave Falmouth a scrum, from which a simple kick and chase gave them the opening try. From the next kick-off, Falmouth worked a simple passing move and a centre traveled sixty yards unchallenged to score the second - Cams were 14-0 down and hadn't touched the ball. Things improved slightly when Camels finally got some possession and Thomas set off on a winding run, Billy carried the ball into the 22, and Cory dodged the cover to score. However, some wild passing and misunderstanding at the back of a scrum handed Falmouth the softest of tries and a 19-5 lead.
At that point Camels could have given up, but they started to focus on the basics. Some good ruck ball set the backs free and Ethan put Callum in to finish well on the right, then Cory broke free from a maul and scored a superb try on the left. At only four points behind at halftime, Camels were right in the game.
Camels started the second half with renewed belief. Ethan scored the try that saw them edge ahead. Billy stomped through and made it under the posts, Ethan's con giving them an 8 point cushion. Falmouth seemed to have hit back with a try that would have brought them back within a point, but play was called back for an earlier infringement - and that seemed to break their spirit. Thomas and Billy were able to add tries before the end to give the scoreline a gloss that was hard on Falmouth.
Man of the Match was undoubtedly Cory.
The semifinal follows next week, so everyone to training on Wednesday please.
