Play was evenly matched in the first quarter and Phoenix had more possession overall. Despite Huddersfield scoring 5 goals, there was some good defence from Phoenix & good interception. When Phoenix did get in the circle, they managed to score 3 goals with 2 from Sophie Joyce & 1 from Mariella Cowper.
In the 2nd quarter the girls didn’t have as much momentum and there was more hesitancy with passing. Huddersfield Giants managed to score a further 3 goals bringing the score to 8-3 at the end of the second quarter. It was clear that Phoenix needed to focus & up their game!
In the 3rd quarter the Huddersfield Giant’s had good passing with a strong centre and they had lots of chances but no goals. Lili Harrison as centre battled on & marked well. Natasha Alty had a strong quarter and lots of attempts for goals but unfortunately wasn’t successful. At the end of the quarter it was still 8-3.
In the final quarter, Huddersfield Giants had good communication and passing with little possession from Phoenix. They managed to score a further 7 goals in succession. Phoenix had some good interception with Natasha Alty as GD. There was a strong partnership with Lili Harrison and Sophie Joyce as GS and GA with a few opportunities but it didn’t result in any goals. At the final whistle the score was 15-3 to Huddersfield Giants. Phoenix won the point on a technicality as Huddersfield Giants only had 6 players.
