The club was formed by a merger of Cupids Country Club FC and Thorpe FC.
Cupids Country Club FC was previously known as Civil Service FC and dates back to around mid-60’s, with Thorpe FC dating back to around mid-40’s.

Cupids Country Club FC had around four Saturday teams reduced to two in later years. Thorpe FC however were the more successful of the two clubs and in recent years wanted to make that step to a higher level.

Cupids Country Club FC had the personnel and resources to help Thorpe FC achieve that aim. The clubs merged in July 2013 to become Southend Sports FC.
