Long trip to Colwyn Bay beckons in next round.

Our first team are through to the second round of the Vitality Club T20 after they cruised to a seven wicket victory over local rivals Parkfield Liscard.

The visitors opted to bat first on a splendid evening at the KJM Oval for which they made a steady start. However, newcomer Harry Meehan soon made an impact claiming two wickets in successive deliveries in a spell that would end with exceptional figures of 2 for 10 off 4 overs.

Matty Keogh helped himself to a wicket against his former club with a Wardy run out leaving Parkfield in big trouble at 26 for 4. Kamran Hussain (19) and Robert Courtney (25) offered some resistance in the middle order before Greg made the key breakthrough with the dismissal of the former.

Courtney then fell victim to Stephen Williams who kept things tight in his spell as he bagged three wickets (via some safe catching from Captain Dan). Alex Eagles also got the chance to pick up his first wicket for the 1s since 2014 as Parkfield collapsed to 104 all out.

CD and Greg then started the reply well with an opening partnership of 28. Both then departed quickly before Indian all-rounder Sumit Ruikar led a recovery with 19. Having batted together well in the recent cup win over Astley Bridge, Harry and Alex repeated the feat as they forged a lucrative stand of 47.

The pair finished with unbeaten knocks of 27 and 25 respectively as the win was achieved with three overs to spare.

For the third year in a row, we will be making the long trek to North Wales to play Colwyn Bay in Round 2 with the match needing to be played by June 9th.
