The first game of the 2019-20 season saw Walsall travel to Leek for a friendly with a squad of 25 players.
After Leek scored the first try, Walsall stepped up their game with tries from Nick Rose x 2, Adam Knight, Ross ‘the real slim shady’ Warwood and 3 conversions from James Quigley. Leek had the last word of the first half scoring again just before the whistle.

Michael Whitehouse broke the deadlock in the second half after 20 minutes with a move from the base of the scrum with Stewart Holder converting. Further tries came from Nick Rose, who completed his hat trick and Kieron Roberts then completed the scoring. Stewart Holder converting one.
Final score: Leek 14 - Walsall 45
A great start to the season with all of the players playing well. Great to see a good number of Colts playing senior rugby and the return of Macca. Well done all!
