Walsall Wood welcomed Worcester City FC to WS9 on Bank Holiday Monday in what was sure to be an interesting encounter between the two sides.

Wood knew that it was going to be a tough encounter so were very prepared. The visitors started off the better of the two sides keeping the press on against Walsall Wood FC. Hughes and Landers were the first two Wood players called into action, Matt to clear a good cross and Landers to save a shot. Wood's first attempt was a corner that was cleared by City, but counters another at the other end by the visitors. Also, Jai Verma made a beautiful run but his cross is deflected out of play. McGurk hits a free kick from around twenty-five yards out which unfortunately got caught and went out wide. Elliot Hartley has a couple of attempts for Worcester, one being a cross that goes out and another being a shot neither of which really challenge the Wood. With around fifteen minutes left of the half, Wood begin to put more pressure onto Worcester City and have a few decent chances, but the City keeper Adam Harrison was there to keep the deadlock unbroken. Not much happened in the last five minutes of the game as both teams went end to end of the pitch at the Titan Recruitment Stadium. The referee then blew his whistle for half-time with both teams of fans hoping for a goal to help push on their side in this game.

The second forty-five minutes began with Walsall Wood being on top and finally cracking the deadlock between the two teams. After a lovely bit of link-up play between Jai Verma and Carter Lycett before whipping the ball in and Adam McGurk scoring after his first shot got deflected and an open goal was left. Worcester City nearly immediately responded, but after that Dan Gyasi went up the other end and nearly got a second for the Wood. Gyasi had another shot which went wide, and Hayden linked up with him to supply McGurk along with each other. City have another chance but fortunately for the Wood fans, it hits the side-netting. Jai had another chance but it went across the goal. Purves later puts the ball in the back of the net, however, the linesmen raised his flag for offside. Wood then made some defensive substitutes by brining Ticha and Mckerdy on for Gyasi and Purves. Then, in stoppage time Jai Verma struck the ball into the back of the net sending the Wood fans crazy. The referee blew his whistle and the Wood fans were allowed to celebrate.
