What a stellar weekend at WLDCC!
For the first time ever, we had 3 wins from 3 on a Saturday.
The 1sts had a tight win over Chorley 3rds.
Chorley batted first and were dismissed for 95. Top performers with the ball were Jake Bolton with a top spell of 14-2-27-4, and Mac Morris who returned figures of 3-10 from 9 overs.
Other wickets were Yamin Vahaluwala with 1, and 2 for Gareth Winstanley.
They chased down the total losing 7 wickets, with top contributions of 24 from Morris, 16 from Scott Newton, and a vital partnership between Winstanley (14*) and Jimmy McIver on debut with 16* seeing us home.
The seconds also got back to winning ways away to Vernon Carus 3rds.
Batting first, things got off to a decent start with Anis Vahaluwala continuing his fine form with a solid 34. Young Dominic Harvey (21) and the older Neil Harvey (27) then put on a good partnership, but when Dom fell a procession of wickets tumbled, and the innings stalled. Eventually closing on 117, it seemed a below par total, albeit close to captain Harveys ideal minimum of 120.
The Vernons innings was never really allowed to get going, with Imran Paladiwala (3-30) and Ikram Palejwala (2-13) giving a really good start for the Dale. They were well backed up by Abdullah Kadva with 2-26, and other tight spells from Hamza Tahir and Anis Vahaluwala.
Vernons closed on 101/8, which whilst meaning full points weren't achieved, keeps the 2's in touch at the top of Div 4.
The 3rd XI had a cracking day vs Charnock St James 2nds!
Back at home (well our adopted home of White Coppice CC), the 3rds fielded first and it appeared an even contest. Charnock battled to 197 all out. Pick of the bowlers was definitely 15 year old Evan Benyon with his first senior 5 fer. 5-51 from 14 overs was a great effort, so well done Evan!
There was also tight bowling from Matt Berry, and other wickets for Shan Patel (1-36), Owen Aiton (2-45) and a debut wicket for Ryan Edwards (1-19).
The chase was, fair to say, superb! Stars of the show were undoubtedly Matt Simmons with his first senior 50, finishing unbeaten on 74*, Christian Bolton with a heavily boundary ladened 54, and Dave Harrison with 26.
Top effort by the 3rds and we were all delighted by this result most of all!
We move on to next week, with all 3 teams back in action, plus a cracking trip over to Yorkshire for a game vs Bradfield Village Fellowship CC!
