In our second outing in this competition, we travelled to Orsett CC on a damp and overcast morning. Wanstead won the toss and decided to field . Orsett got off to good start, scoring 92 off 21 overs before losing their first wicket . Orsett scored 166 off 30 and added only 37 runs in their last 10 overs to get to 203 off 40. We could have been better in the field, with misfields and dropped catches, and we also conceded 38 extras. The best of the bowlers were Owen with 2 wickets for 31 off 8 overs and Tarun with 1 wicket for 17 off 5 overs.

We soon made up for our below par first half performance. Sulayman and Tarun opened the batting and Sulayman got off to an amazing start, scoring 50 in 39 balls and sharing a partnership of 95 before we lost our first and only wicket. Sulayman went on to make a brilliant unbeaten 132 off 85 deliveries and Ibrahim finished on 37 off 32, with us reaching the target in 22.4 overs.

Wanstead U16s v Belhus U16s - 23rd June

Wanstead's U16s had their first Match Play game on Sunday against Belhus CC; the first time we have faced them.

Belhus won the toss and elected to bat and despite losing a wicket first ball, they had a 80 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. They generally batted well for their 181 off 40 overs but we also bowled and fielded well with Ibrahim taking 5 wickets and Cyrus taking 3 catches.

We got off to a decent 40 run start before losing a wicket, but thereafter kept losing wickets until Pranav (who continued his outstanding form) and Owen fired a 65 run partnership which sealed the win for us with 5 overs to spare.
