Wanstead's U12s took on Walthamstow in the Brian Taylor competition on Sunday morning. Having lost the toss and been asked to bat, Wanstead put on 134 for the opening wicket before Hayaan departed for an excellent 73. When his opening partner Anay retired shortly afterwards for 51, Wanstead suffered a bit of a middle order wobble, but Rafer kept his head with 29 not out to see us to an imposing 211 for 5 off our 25 overs.

Walthamstow dug in admirably against the pace of Eshaan and Furqan, but succumbed to some excellent off-spin from Riyan (2 for 2 off 3 overs) and some tidy ground fielding from the team accounted for 3 direct-hit run outs. Great to see the practice paying off!

Walthamstow continued to battle gamely to make it through their 25 overs on 47 for 8, but Wanstead nevertheless enjoyed a comfortable 164 run victory margin. The team has certainly started the competition in dominant form, and will be hoping to maintain their momentum against the tough opponents to come.
