Wantage Town are delighted to confirm the appointment of new head coach JACK WELLS

After going through a series of applicants and socially distanced meetings at the club, there were some impressive candidates that showed an interested for the Head Coach role.

We are delighted that Jack Wells has accepted to be part of the management team where he will now join the Wantage family and help progress our journey towards success!

See below some questions and a bit about our newly appointed head coach

What attracted you to the Head Coach role at Wantage?

After discussions with Bidds and JK it was very clear the vision in place and more importantly the process of implementing the necessary steps to achieve it. Seeing the club and all the work going on currently a the ground, it’s clear this is a club evolving and wants to recreate good times once more, I want to be apart of that journey.

How excited are you by the opportunity at this club?

Hugely, I had some really good opportunities elsewhere and one even at the level above but it’s about how things fit and Wantage with everything it’s looking to achieve coincided with my ambitions and work balance. Anyone who knows me knows I’m the type of person who once committed is fully invested in the journey, so for me to have taken this opportunity over others will show how serious Wantage are about ensuring it’s the place to play your football around the county.

What do you think you can bring to the club?

I’m very Meticulous in my coaching methods, the Gaffa has a vision of how he wants us to play and I’ll ensure the lads buy into that, in doing so I hope it will show supporters that we’re not here to make up the numbers but to really challenge at this level, we have an idea of what’s realistic and I’ll use my experience to help this club move forward.

Where do you see the club in five years?

Football is a funny game and five years is a long time, we have no preconceptions of what year 2,3,4 etc look like, I think the priority right now is to get Wantage winning games of football, the lads started doing that last year before the season was cut short and we will keep ticking things off week by week.

What fixture(s) are you most looking forward to?

There isn’t one that particularly interests me over another, we will set the lads up every Saturday at 3pm with the knowledge we’ve done all we can, and there isn’t an opposition at the this level we should fear/respect to much.

Which football team do you support?

Spurs, although it’s getting tougher!

What’s your favourite football player?

Of old, R9, best footballer I’ve ever seen. Current would be Harry Kane, overall for me the best CF in the world (yes before lewandoski)

Welcome to the club Jack
