At the elite level, cameras are vastly ubiquitous (big word for me, but for those who don’t know, it’s another would for abundant). All top tier clubs these days, everything from youth to reserve team matches to training sessions are being recorded for optimising talent and team performances. We plan to use this technology for exactly this reason! Providing verbal feedback is the most commonly used aid to educate our players, but most players are visual learners and it’s a scientific fact that humans learn faster and more efficiently when their visual senses are activated.
It’s one thing having this technology readily available, but it’s how it will be used that will be key to help drive us to success. Given the football degrees and coaching qualifications within the management team, what better place to be at to receive such expertise and knowledge outside the professional game. This can only be an improvement to enhance a player and the overall team’s performance and development within our club.
HOW WILL THIS BE USED?
This technology comes with a software app that will allow management, coaches and players to:
• Analysis a match in 4 different views
• Create, mark and cut own specific highlights
• Ability to draw lines, shapes and arrows on screen
• Share with players and make comments where applicable
Obviously, the tactical and analysis side of things will only be shared internally but brief highlights of the game will be shared and posted for all to view on our website.
Why not? The purpose of this will not just be used for the tactical and coaching improvements it will bring. But also with an aim to increase the community and social engagement around all things Wantage Town. With increased interest and visibility opens doors to sponsors to help promote their businesses as well as supporting the club.
We hope that this and other improvements will help “tickle a few taste buds” and get more people down Alfredian Park to be part of our journey and family.
UP THE FREDS
With this technology opens up a little opportunity to be part of the management team. We are happy to hear from anyone who would be interested in a position around the match day video data analysis. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for experience and exposure within this subject, as well as willing to work with the management team to identify and analyse data to help improve player and team performance.
