A series of personal thoughts from the side of the pitch.

Good evening one and all. Are you ready for tonight’s six pointer? Yes, here we are a month into the season and big games are coming round already. If we win tonight it will put Saturday’s win into perspective as it will take us above Harlow and one point below Chalfont. That is assuming Chalfont beat Hertford tonight. Chalfont have an added incentive as they now have an ex Ware boy on their staff, Paul WICKENDON. Nice to see him back at a Club. So two old friends in one week, things are looking good.

I did get to the game Saturday and I am pleased to confirm my old mucker Denis is now on the Isthmian Board. We did watch a bit of the game but we spent most of the time talking. I did blow smoke in his face but not up his cut glass. Watch this space as things get told to those that run our League that they don’t necessarily want to hear.

Now peeps a little history lesson on 15th September 1979 President Jimmy CARTER, yellow headband and all, collapses during a light jogging session in Catoctin Mountain National Park. This is the time when professional footballers were on twenty fags a day. There were still adverts from Charles Atlas explaining how we could all have a body like his. The 80.s was the start of the fitness era with keep-fit videos and Princess Di nipping to the gym in her lunch break. Ever since gym memberships have diverted billion from behind bars across the land.

Gym changing rooms have becoming grooming salons with shaved chests, gelled hair and the likes. Well peeps I am calling for the return of the heady aroma of liniment, athlete’s foot powder and the sweaty jockstraps.

Finally if you were wondering would the FD still keep up with things at the Club. Well buy a copy of this week's non-league paper and see he not only wrote the report for Saturday’s game, he picked the right man for man of the match without asking me for my opinion.

And on that bomb shell
