A series of personal views from the side of the pitch.

Yes peeps it’s another round in the FA Cup. Today we welcome those nice people from LEISTON, who we first met a few seasons ago when they wizzed through Step 4 with undue haste. This game will be a tough one but our pitch will help us match any physicality. You have to watch out for these Tractor Boys (No offence to anyone who is not an Ipswich supporter). Listen people no-one wants to go to Leiston mid-week so a result please. I have driven the Development Squad there mid-week and Kev will tell you it’s an early start and a late finish. As we have prize money from Tuesday its not so important.

Talking of prize money, Mr Chairman, can I ask this is put back into the playing budget? It is clear the loosing of 3 key players in the summer has taken its toll on the squad. I’m no Manager and I know Paul is constantly looking to improve his squad, but better players cost better money. It is the old conundrum, facing Clubs outside the Premiership. Do you live with your income or do you gamble a little bit? If you get the Gamble wrong you end up like Bury and Bolton, although I believe allegations of Fraud are now surfacing. Or do you do a Cheshunt last season, where the Club went above and beyond the budget they would normally consider?

There is no doubt we have a Manager that has the interest of this Club as his first priority. He also has the ambition to ply his trade at the next level and above. I believe these ambitions are the same as the Chairman. However, I believe the Club has reached a point where it can settle for top 8 complacency at Step 4 or it can push on. It has the facilities and the people to do this it may need some extra investment in playing staff.

Sadly peeps I cannot be with you again to-day. I have prior engagements which involve a visit to Heathrow Airport. I started saving for the parking at the airport last month. This also means as a result I will be extremely busy during the month of September. However don’t forget you can keep up to date on the website or with East Herts DIGITAL RADIO and our old friend Pete HILL from those heady Heartbeat days.

I expect to be informing you of the fallout from the BURY and Bolton fiasco, but the dust needs to settle before the facts can be separated from the myths

So on that bomb shell

Keep em peeled
