The ending of league football may be a done deal but the county cups could continue.

A communication from the county FA to clubs still in county cups addresses the FA statement that all leagues below a certain level would be concluded with immediate effect.

The advice to Hertfordshire's clubs states that this announcement "does not affect the status of our County Cups at this time. Although these are currently postponed until further notice, we have yet to make a final decision as to whether it will be possible for these competitions to be completed."

This is of interest to Ware as we are due to entertain London Colney in the semi-final of the Charity Shield whilst we have youth teams at Under-18, 17 and 16 level ready to play semi-finals in their age group competitions.

Given the possible length of the lock down period we may not be seeing the Charity Shield decided until perhaps the pre-season friendly period prior to the 2020/1 season. How such a delay would affect the youth sides is hard to say with age requirements possibly needing to be relaxed.
