Ware started nervously against league newcomers Cray Valley. They were dominating play but a few lapses in concentration allowed Cray Valley some opportunities and they looked good on the counter.
Ware were effective when they got the ball wide with Archie Wolf supplying some good crosses. Eventually the pressure paid off when a looped ball from wide into the box found the back of the net from Nathan Tree.
Within five minutes and after a minor change of formation Ware went 2-0 up when Ethan Rookard latched on to El Tariq's through ball to take it on and finish well with a chip over the keeper.
The second half had a slow start before Ware began to dominate again and they should have added to their lead. Andrew Bennett was unlucky when his excellent header was saved superbly by the Cray keeper.
The visitors still looked dangerous on the break before substitute Nathan Linton came on to score two goals either side of a Cray consolation. Linton's goals were a reward for his persistence in closing down the opposing defence in the penalty area.
All in all a very good performance from a newly formed team.
