I don't know why it is but the likes of St Albans City and Stevenage have all fallen to us on numerous occasions but we've always had problems with Hitchin who seem to me to be of a similar ranking as those two; i.e. perennially above us in league standings. This was only our fifth victory in the 32 meetings since the north Herts club was formed (or reformed depending on how you see these things) in 1928.
Two of those wins have been in friendlies but I'll take whatever I can. One of the others was in the old East Anglian Cup when two attempts to resolve a tie were abandoned with us well behind in both before we won at Top Field at the third attempt. You can see how difficult it has been.
So this ranks as a good win, one that saw Jay Lovell open his account both in terms of appearances and also in goals. Albert Adu scored the second whilst a trialist took the third. More news on him hopefully in the near future.
It looks like Paul Halsey has got some time in for his recent signings plus the previously suspended Louis Rose in advance of Saturday's trip to Kempston Rovers when we will be playing for points again.
Under-18 players Mayvin Vigneswaran and Jacob Waring also had time in the game.
