Saturday, 8th October at Wodson Park SG12 0UQ;
Pitching-in Southern League Division One (Central); kick off 3pm.
We may be top of the league but it's only by goal difference. Breathing uncomfortably down our collective necks is Kidlington who no doubt intend to make things even more uncomfortable this coming Saturday.
After a disappointing season last time out, Kidlington have started this one in good form, their only league defeat being a 2-0 reverse away to Aylesbury. Our own form is good too so we’re expecting to see a competitive game. It will be the top game in the division, a fact underlined by the Non-League Paper's interest in it, so make sure you're there.
We have scored three goals in each of our last three league games, whilst Kidlington have scored only four in their last four outings of any kind. On the other hand, they have kept clean sheets in all of those matches. It looks like the outcome may well depend on who gets the upper hand between our front men and their defence.
Ware won the corresponding fixture 5-1 on the opening day of last season with two goals from Leigh Rose and one each from Rechan Esprit, Robbie Buchanan and Liam Dulson but struggled in the away 2-2 draw. Liam Dulson scored again with the other coming from Tom Bruno.
Unfortunately Leigh won’t be figuring in this game as his injury is taking time to heal though he does appear to be Paul Halsey’s only injury worry.
Paul now has his own column in the programme (available on the gate at £1.50) so you can keep up with his thoughts on the team and wider issues. That's in addition to all the usual range of articles including Aiden’s latest in his Astroturf series which, coincidentally, contains a lot of good words about Paul.
Don’t forget that if you can’t get to the game there will be twitter updates and selected video moments from Symon Allemandy at 90minuteslive.
There is only one youth game at Wodson Park on the Sunday with the under--17s facing Buckhurst Hill in a league match kicking off at 2pm. Entry is free and the clubroom and tea bar will be open.
