There’s a need to bounce back quickly from last week’s defeat so we ought to be grateful that we are meeting a team lying second from bottom in the table. The trouble is that whilst we were losing 3-0 on Saturday Cirencester Town were winning by the same score. Have they turned a corner?
Lee Irving is their top scorer with seven goals in 16 games. Four of those goals were in cup competitions leaving Lee as joint top scorer in league matches alongside Joe Shepherd. Joe scored twice against FC Romania last week so maybe a man in form?
As I have pointed out before, Cirencester is the first team we have met from Gloucestershire which adds an extra dimension to this fixture.
You can find out more about our visitors in the match day programme available at the gate for £1.50. All the regular articles are there as well including Paul Halsey’s thoughts on the last couple of games and Aiden’s Astroturf series. In the latest article he looks at the upcoming World Cup and compares the extravagance of the oil states to the likely struggles faced by non-league sides in the energy crisis.
Don’t forget that if you can’t get to the game there will be twitter updates and selected video moments from Symon Allemandy at 90minuteslive.
