It’s “Hi” to Highworth who make their first ever visit to Ware for this game in which both sides will be out for a good result. The visitors are just one place above the automatic relegation position whilst we have the chance to move back into second place in the table.
Biggleswade are without a game this weekend so even a draw will lift us above them in the table on goal difference whilst a win will put us two points ahead. On top of that we will still have a game in hand on them.
Can we do it? We were held to a draw in the match at Highworth back in November despite the home side being reduced to ten men after 25 minutes. We couldn’t find a way round a well packed defence but will hopefully have a way of addressing that on Saturday.
Highworth’s away record shows one win (a more than respectable 2-0 success at Biggleswade) and three draws from their eleven games on the road. Our home record could be better with six wins and two draws from eleven.
The matchday programme is on sale at the gate for £1.50. Plenty of articles and match reports plus Aiden’s latest in his Astroturf series. This week he’s been reading Gary Neville’s new book and this has generated some interesting thoughts.
On Sunday there’s more football with the Under-18s at home to Wheathampsted in the third round of the Herts County Challenge Cup, kick off at 10am; the Under-16s facing Hemel Hempstead in the league at midday; and the Under-15s entertaining Hertford Town also in a league game at 2pm. Entry is free and the tea bar and clubroom will be open.
