Thanks to Paul Halsey’s selection regime of rotating players through four matches in ten days, “99” has become a figure of more significance than expected in relation to this game. We already knew that it was the 99th league meeting between Ware and Hertford (see below for a breakdown of matches) but now, in a remarkable coincidence, both Louis and Leigh Rose approach the game on 199 appearances for Ware.

I’m not expecting Paul’s selection policy to be influenced by sentiment but might the brothers share a double century on Monday? Meanwhile it was also good to see that Sam Chaney is back in the fold after making an appearance at Berkhamsted on Saturday. Could he get another chance in this game?

Our last three home league games against Hertford have been drawn whilst the corresponding away games were won. We’ve won away again this season so is this game destined to be drawn? Hertford are looking in their best form since 2018/9 and come into this game with a recent record of results that is better than ours so will be difficult opponents. This game really could go any of three ways.
