A certain amount of repair work appears to be necessary after Tuesday’s unpleasant experience at the Eyrie. We might have wished for some easier opponents to conduct the rebuild against but we take on last year’s champions of the Spartan South Midlands League. They seem to have brought their championship form with them and are currently fourth in the table.

Beyond the league they are out of the FA Cup, losing 6-1 at home to Cambridge City in the first qualifying round but are still in the FA Trophy having won 2-0 away to, yes that’s right, away to Cambridge City. They travel to Boldmere St Michael’s in the next round. Boldmere are in the Northern League midlands division where they are equal on points with - Cambridge City.

Their three league wins have all come away from home including a 1-0 success at Hadley a week after we lost there. They are yet to win at home having taken single points from Waltham Abbey and Cirencester but lost to AFC Dunstable.

Parking is limited in Bell Close and the club suggests an adjacent car park but gives no indication of costs.
