We’re back on the road but this time heading northwards to Bedford to meet Kempston Rovers. Our opponents currently sit at the bottom of the table but there are no pushovers in this division and we can expect a hard game.

In their bid to escape the drop Rovers have recently signed former Ware man Lauric Diakiesse who played eight games for us at the beginning of the 2018/9 season, scoring one goal in our 4-2 FA Cup win at FC Clacton.

That game marked the beginning of Paul Halsey’s second term as manager though Lauric didn’t stay around long enough to enjoy the success Paul has brought. Not that he probably minds as he has been around a bit since then including spells in the Midlands with Kettering, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Bedford Town and Whitehawk on the south coast.

Rovers have yet to take a league point from us in our five meetings, the last of which saw us win 3-0 at Wodson back in early October when we were in the middle of a four match run without conceding. Things seem a little different now and Paul will be looking to revive fortunes with another win.

Fred Burbidge had a spell between the posts in a recent friendly with Hoddesdon Town so we may see him at the Hillgrounds on Saturday. I’ll also be hoping to find Stef Georgiou and George Ironton free from injury but I have no news on that.
