Kidlington has not been a happy hunting ground for us so far. Our two previous visits have seen us draw and then, last season, lose 4-1 despite comfortable home victories earlier in each season. There’s no previous home result this time as we don’t meet at Wodson Park for another month.
Curiously both sides’ last win was by 1-0 against Cirencester Town though Kidlington’s victory came away from home. In their five games since then they have scored just one goal and conceded nine. That said, the one goal scored came in their draw with league leaders Bedford so despite sitting just one place above the relegation zone they are clearly capable of a good result.
Kidlington’s most recent game at the end of February saw them lose 4-0 at home to Biggleswade Town, ours of course was that win over Cirencester. Ware meanwhile are still looking for an away win in 2024, with just two points taken from the six games played since December 16th at AFC Dunstable.
Kidlington have a game in hand over the bottom two sides but with bottom placed Kempston Rovers undergoing a rejuvenation Kidlington can’t afford to relax. Another tough game is in prospect.
Meanwhile on Sunday there are three youth games at Wodson Park with the first kicking off at 10am as the Under-14s take on St Margaretsbury. That is followed at midday by the Under-18s against Barking and then at 2pm the Under-16s take on Colney Heath. Entry is free and the clubroom and tea bar will be open.
