You may think we go to Bedford just that bit too often but there’s something new about this visit. We will be playing on the new artificial surface that has been laid at the New Eyrie for this season.

We’ve grown used to the Biggleswade club and the mostly exciting and entertaining matches we’ve had with them. Last season’s visit saw us handed a 4-0 reverse which I guess was some consolation for our 4-1 play-off semi-final win at the end of the previous season.

But now it’s all about this season. Biggleswade’s FA Cup run which saw them go out in the final qualifying round to York City has not been matched by their league form and they currently sit thirteenth in the table. Mind you, that cup run has left them with games in hand. They’ve played four fewer than us and are just seven points behind.

It looks like being a close game. Paul Halsey’s team options find him still without Sam Mayuma whilst Jack Dreyer’s wanderlust means that he won’t be available to return to his old club. They’ll both be missed though any of Freddy Moncur (who scored our winner in last season's home meeting), George Ironton or Max Granville could return to a starting position in the team.

Meanwhile there's more football on Sunday starting at 10am with the under-14s meeting Histon in the league cup. This is followed at midday by the under-17s looking for league points against Buckhurst Hill and then at 2pm by the under-13s in a league game against Hemel Hempstead. As always, entry is free and the clubroom and tea bar will be open throughout.
