Saturday, 8th March at Wodson Park SG12 0UQ;
Pitching-in Southern League Division One (Central); kick off 3pm.
Printed programme on the gate for £1.50.
This Saturday’s game coincides with International Women’s Day and we are pleased to dedicate the fixture to the “Her Game Too” campaign. This aims to tackle sexism in football and ensure that women and girls feel safe and welcome at all levels of the game. We hope you’ll join us in this not only for this game but every game.
Our opponents are Kings Langley who sit eight points and four places below us but with a game in hand. Their newly appointed manager is Steve Heath who was assisting informally at Ware until recently. We welcome Steve back to Wodson Park but he may just have a little more inside information on us than we might like. We’ll see how that pans out.
Kings’ last eleven league games have seen only two wins and those against sides in the relegation places. Before that however they scored a home victory over high flying Real Bedford. We’ll need to be on our toes.
At the time of writing there is no clear picture on injuries although Mackye Townsend-West could still be suffering from the effects of his shoulder problem from the game at North Leigh. Meanwhile Jon Clements, if he plays, will wrack up his fiftieth appearance for the club.
Our referee will be Mr Oliver Kaya and his assistants are Benjamin Lepper and Jordan Rant.
And of course, if you can’t get to the match can still pick up the excellent live commentary from Pete Hill and Symon Allemandy at 90minuteslivefootball.mixlr.com/events/4096574 starting from 2.55pm.
There are three opportunities to see our youth sides on Sunday. Kicking off at 10am are the under-15s who meet Harpenden before the under-16s face Northwood at midday and then the under-18s receive Enfield Borough at 2pm. As always, there is free entry and the club room and tea bar will be open throughout.
Our record against the King Langley:
There were 59 years between our first two meetings. Saturday’s will be our eighth in the last ten.
